Our Website Under Attack: About the "429 Too Many Requests" Error

Throughout October, many visitors browsing our website may have occasionally encountered a "429 Too Many Requests" error. For over a month now, our site has been the target of recurring DDoS attacks. These attacks are particularly sophisticated: they target our IP address directly, which means services such as Cloudflare are unable to mitigate them. As a result, our hosting was periodically unable to handle the load and began returning the "429 Too Many Requests" error. We spent all of October working to resolve this issue and identify a lasting (and cost effective) solution.

If you are reading this post, our new solution, along with the updated website and hosting, is already up and running. The new version of the site is far more lightweight and no longer relies on WordPress, PHP, jQuery, or the other legacy frameworks that had accumulated over our website's 14-year history. Under the hood, the site is entirely new and built on modern JavaScript and CSS frameworks, even though it looks almost the same as before (already a timeless classic :) ). Our website also now features a mobile version and a fully responsive design.

We had long wanted to make the site more lightweight, add mobile support, and move away from legacy technology, but more urgent priorities always took precedence. Now we had no choice but to do it, so there is a silver lining after all.

And there is more to come: we have further updates planned for both our website and DriveDx. We'll show how a timeless classic can evolve while remaining both recognizable, relevant and modern. Stay tuned. As the saying goes, "The reports of our death are greatly exaggerated." We are alive and kicking!
